Though she tried to get plenty of rest before her show in Salt Lake City Tuesday night, the singer ran off stage while performing "7 Things" and a stage manager told the crowd that Cyrus needed medical attention, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. She re-emerged onto the stage after 15 minutes and completed the show, but later announced she had strep throat.

Kicking off her Wonder World tour in grand fashion, Miley Cyrus took to the stage in Portland, Oregon on Monday night (September 14).

The “Hannah Montana” darling pulled out her hits for the first of what’s a 45-city concert schedule finishing off in Miami, Florida on December 2nd before a short jaunt overseas in Europe.

Getting a few jitters ahead of the night’s gig, Miss Cyrus tweeted, “Listening to Metro Station from backstage. First shows are always the best/worst. Best because all excitement & anxiety is released on to stage for the first time. Worst because wardrobe changes don’t always go as planned.”

Next scheduled to take the stage in Seattle on Wednesday (September 16), Miley showed her graciousness to fans in Oregon following her night onstage, writing, “Thank you and good night Portland.”

The track is Cyrus's third top 10 in four tries on Pop Songs. "See You Again" reached No. 4 in April 2008. Three months later, "7 Things" rose to No. 19. This June, "The Climb" climbed to No. 5.

At just five chart weeks, "Party in the U.S.A." easily marks Cyrus' swiftest ascent to the top 10. "See You Again" took 13 weeks to reach the top tier, and "The Climb" required 14 frames.

Hannah Montana: The Movie spent its second week at the top of the DVD sales chart, according to Rentrack Corporation.

Miley Cyrus’ summer theater hit fell out of Rentrack’s Top 10 rental chart, suggesting most fans would rather own the DVD than simply rent it for an evening.

Miley’s next movie is The Last Song.

We will have an opportunity to get a sneak peek at what the movie is about on Sept. 8 when Grand Central Publishing releases The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks.

The author has worked closely with the movie project and it may give us more of an idea what to expect.

Here is Amazon’s description of the plot:
“Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Miley Cyrus' Twitter: An Appreciation

Twitter is a curious thing. Sometimes it lends a great deal of insight into the way somebody's day-to-day mind works. It can be a great platform for comedy, but it can also be a bottomless pit of inanity. But recently I've been following a particular feed that I find endlessly fascinating, and it belongs to Miley Cyrus. Her feed gets updated five to eight times a day, and most of them are filled with genuine human insight and surprising levels of sadness.

The first thing that struck me is how mundane her life appears to be (or at least the things she chooses to tweet about). But it doesn't come across as a famous person narcissistically gazing into her own navel and declaring everything about her life interesting — rather, they are the dispatches of a 16-year-old girl trying to find her way (which, if you recall, is exactly what she is). "Making dinner. AKA a peanut butter and jelly," reads a tweet from yesterday. She even tags it with a smiley-face emoticon. As one of the most famous people on the planet, you would assume that she has a private chef at her beck and call ready to prepare a shark steak sandwich for her. But no! Sometimes being 16 and famous means making yourself a PB&J in the wee hours of the morning.

Cyrus' Twitter also reveals excellent musical taste. She tips her hat to Ryan Adams, Coldplay, Colbie Caillat, Copeland and Vampire Weekend, all in the span of a handful of tweets. But she's also not self-conscious about her choices, as she recently praised Celine Dion.

But the thing that really cuts deep is the profound amount of existential angst that regularly sneaks into her tweets. Just today, she wrote "I can't remember the last time I felt beautiful. Ugh. I hate being a girl sometimes." Elsewhere, she talks about loneliness in very frank ways. "I feel so yucky today. Intense rehearsals are starting up and I have the worst head ache. I just wanna be cuddled." A few days ago, she tweeted, "'There falls no shadow where there shines no sun,'" a quote from English writer and philosopher Hilaire Belloc. It's a loaded line tweeted by a girl having to deal with the ups and downs of being a teenager in an extremely public setting, and in those quiet moments alone she thinks about the same things non-famous 16-year-olds do.

Miley Cyrus certainly comes across as grounded in public, but because she is somebody who was essentially born famous, it can be difficult to figure out what is real and what is a construction (ironically, she has the same problems in her real life as her character Hannah Montana). But her Twitter humanizes her in ways that no other medium does. I'm convinced that once she grows up a bit and is allowed to make more "adult" music, she's going to turn out some truly incredible stuff that will mine the depths of her own condition in a shockingly honest fashion (I imagine her taking the reverse trajectory of Liz Phair, where her fifth album is raw and all about her real-life love drama).

Until then, she's earned a follower not by being famous but by being real.

Miley Cyrus Accused of Breaking Up Liam Helmsworth Romance

An Australian teenager has hit out at Miley Cyrus - accusing the superstar of wrecking her relationship with actor LIAM HEMSWORTH. Cyrus, 16, recently completed filming new movie "The Last Song" with Aussie Hemsworth and was rumoured to have grown close to her on-screen love interest throughout the shoot.

Speculation of a romance with Hemsworth, 18, rocketed when the star was reportedly spotting kissing him goodbye at Nashville Airport in Tennessee last month (Aug09). Cyrus has since denied reports of a relationship with the star - but the actor's ex-girlfriend has now come forward, accusing the "Hannah Montana" actress of wrecking their five-year romance.

Laura Griffin, 19, claims Hemsworth flew back to Australia last month (Aug09) and broke up with her - and she is blaming Cyrus for the split. She tells Australia's Woman's Day magazine, "He was my boyfriend and my best friend. There is no other reason why we would have broken up."

Griffin also reportedly posted a message on her Facebook.com page about the break-up, writing, "Liam and I have been inseparable since school. But it's Miley Cyrus! How can I compete?"

The Billboard 200 also greets a surprise debut from Miley Cyrus at No. 3 with "The Time of Our Lives," her Wal-Mart exclusive EP. The seven song set saw its release date move up three days to Friday (Aug. 28), and it enters the chart with 62,000.

Cyrus' performance on NBC's "Today" show the day of release likely goosed sales for the set, which enters with just three days in the market. All told, it's the eighth top 10 album for Cyrus -- including sets by her "Hannah Montana" alter-ego.

What is the Last Song is all about?

The Last Song is an upcoming 2010 coming of age drama film starring Miley Cyrus. Nicholas Sparks was hired to write both the novel by the same name and the screenplay adaptation with Cyrus in mind for the lead role. Sparks completed the screenplay in January 2009, prior to the completion of the novel. Imagined as a star vehicle to introduce Cyrus to older audiences, the film's storyline follows a troubled teenager, played by Cyrus, and her estranged father, played by Greg Kinnear, as they reconnect with each other through music during a summer in a quiet Southern beach town. The film also stars Kelly Preston and Liam Hemsworth and is produced by Offspring Entertainment for Touchstone Pictures, an alternative film label of The Walt Disney Company. The Last Song is Julie Anne Robinson’s feature film directorial debut.
The plot, originally set in North Carolina like the novel, moved to Georgia after states campaigned for months to host production. Upon beginning production in Tybee Island, Georgia and nearby Savannah, The Last Song became the first movie to be shot and set in Tybee Island. Filming lasted from June 15 to August 18, 2009 with much of it occurring on the island's beach and pier. The film is expected to be released in the United States on January 8, 2010.

Yes, there are important lessons to be learned from this movie and I’m certainly not saying that this movie will make someone dumb. Many people are already big fans of Miley and they will love this movie, no doubt about it. But for those of you who have yet to join the cult of Cyrus but are tempted to because of the popularity of this movie – just don’t give in.

If you’re already a fan, you have no choice but to pick up this Movie.

Miley Cyrus Might Remake Billy Ray's Famous 'Achy Breaky Heart'

CNN recently sat down with Billy Ray Cyrus to talk about the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" DVD release. Much of the talk focused on how Billy Ray's father affected his life, and how he hopes to pass that on to Miley, but there's one more important question CNN decided to save until last: Will Miley remake "Achy Breaky Heart?"

It's kind of funny to think how this question probably would have been left out if a news source focused on a younger demographic were to have conducted the interview. Few know that Billy Ray was originally famous because of his 1991 country hit, "Achy Breaky Heart" — and if they do it's from "I Love the 90s" reruns on VH1. In fact, for many "Achy Breaky" made him not be taken all that seriously in the public eye. It was his shift to acting that won him some esteem, however. And, of course, that daughter who's really worth a million bucks.

So should she remake "Achy Breaky?' Miley is much more pop than country, though with her cowboy hat and plaid her roots do shine through. And "Hannah Montana: The Movie" is all about returning to your roots (though the line "Put the wig back on! You'll never have a normal life if you don't!" kind of defeats the purpose, IMO), so why wouldn't Miley remake the song that made her dad a hit? Maybe because they secretly know it's not the best idea, and detract from her insane popularity by doing such a hokey song.

Bill Ray seemed to agree. "I doubt it," he told CNN, but added, "Anything is a possibility."

Instead he steered the conversation to the song's upcoming 20 year anniversary in 2011 and the other "major stars who want to re-do that song." So it looks like "Achy Breaky" will get redone, and I'm sure Miley's heart isn't aching or broken that it's not going to be by her.

Miley Cyrus Seen Kissing With Co-Star Liam Hemsworth

In June, Miley Cyrus described her co-star in The Last Song, Liam Hemsworth, as a "hot boy."

Now, based on multiple reports, it sounds like the Disney icon has been working up a sweat with the Australian actor - if you know what we mean!

We mean this: the pair has been spotted kissing... off camera!

Both The New York Daily News and People quote witnesses that say Cyrus and Hemsworth played an intense game of tonsil hockey at the Nashville airport on Wednesday.

In fact, actor Alex Emanuel was standing a few feet away and said the rumored couple was "full-on making out." He told People:

"[Miley] jumped into his arms and threw her arms around his neck and kissed him and leaned back and he was dipping her. It was like a scene out of an old movie where the guy's getting on a train and they're saying their goodbyes."

Ironically, the question now becomes: was Miley being a liar liar when she said she did not have a boyfriend earlier this month?

Or will she finally own up to her relationship with Hemsworth? If so, we're sure she'll do so it in a mature, Cyrus-like manner. Something along the lines of a Tweet that reads:

Miley Cyrushas been offered a lucrative seven-figure contract to slide into a pair of Guess Jeans for an ad campaign promoting the denim brand’s trendy collection.“Miley was offered more than $1 million by Guess Jeans to model in magazine ads and on billboards and do some in-store appearances,” a fashion maven close to the discussions reveals in the Sept. 7 issue of Star.

This summer, Miley unveiled designs for her joint fashion venture with BCBG designer Max Azria, nonetheless, the Hannah Montana actress is considering grabbing the Guess gig — as long as she can find time in her schedule.

“She’s busy now, but she might do it if she finds the time,” says the insider.

Mark McLeod Labeled a "Danger" to Miley Cyrus

You really shouldn't stalk Miley Cyrus.

It's unethical, it's illegal and it just gives her something else to Twitter about.

But Mark McLeod was arrested earlier this month for allegedly following around the Hannah Montana star during a movie shoot in Savannah, Georgia. The sick nut job said Miley had been sending him "secret messages" on TV and in her music.

Fortunately, it doesn't sound as though McLeod will be coming near Cyrus again in the near future: a judge has rejected a request to reduce his $55,000 bond for release, according to the Savannah Morning News, which quoted judge Steven Scheer as saying the 53-year-old McLeod posed a potential threat.

"I can't deny him bond, but if I could I would, because I do feel he's a danger."

McLeod was also arrested in 2003 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor when he transported a girl across the Georgia/South Carolina border.

Following yesterday's hearing, McLeod's attorney, James Byrne, claimed his client - who says he's Miley's "secret husband" - wasn't a menace to anyone.

"He's been painted as this monster, but he's got a family," the lawyer said. "What he said I understand was unsettling to a lot of folks. But it doesn't make him a stalker."

What on earth would make him a stalker, Mr. Byrne?!?

Miley has taken out a temporary restraining order against McLeod. We hope he goes away for a very long time.

Walmart Makes Miley Its Seasonal Sweetheart

Walmart joined forces with tween sensation Miley Cyrus and designer Max Azria to offer an exclusive apparel line for the back-to-school season.
The mass merchant's Miley Cyrus & Max Azria collection features trendy shirts, pants, shoes and accessories priced at $20 or less.

The items are merchandised on pallet displays, gondolas and racks configured to create a special section in apparel departments. Signage bears Cyrus' and Azria's names and images, with the singer/actress dressed in ensembles from the collection. The line was introduced in Walmart's Aug. 9 circular, which included a mini-insert featuring many of the same graphics used on the signs. TV spots that broke Aug. 3 also depict a guitar-playing Cyrus wearing the ensembles.

"Our launch of the Miley Cyrus & Max Azria line continues our strategy of engaging customers across categories," John Fleming, Walmart's U.S. executive vice president-chief merchandising officer, said in a press release. "This time, we're bringing together a leading entertainer and a top apparel house to bring exciting product and price leadership to our customers."

"By partnering with Walmart, we saw an opportunity to reach mainstream customers with our product and introduce our designs to a much broader audience," Azria, chief executive officer of BCBGMaxAzriaGroup, said in the release.

Walmart is sponsoring Cyrus' fall concert tour, which travels nationwide between Sept. 14 and Dec. 2. The retailer this month will begin selling an exclusive new Hollywood Records album from Cyrus called The Time of Our Lives. The album is touted on security pedestal ads bearing images of Cyrus -- again wearing apparel from the line.

CD and digital versions of the album, which launches on Aug. 31, can be pre-ordered on the retailer's website. Customers who pre-order the MP3 version instantly receive the album's first single, "Party in the USA."

Stores are also merchandising the newly released Walt Disney film Hannah Montana: The Movie on DVD. Violators in the apparel department cross-merchandise the title.

Cyrus is no stranger to Walmart. Last year, the retailer positioned itself as "Hannah Montana Headquarters." (See "Wal-Mart Catches Up with Hannah Montana" in Related Articles.) Played by Cyrus, the Disney Channel character was featured on signs and displays for licensed apparel, fashion accessories and toys, serving as a key player in the chain's 2008 back-to-school campaign. Witnesses told E! News that Cyrus and Jenkins actually sat with Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel during the event, as the foursome proceeded to go backstage after the show for a VIP party.Following the concert, Carter Tweeted: "Awesome show & very fun night with MiCy @mileycyrus."

Last Wednesday, as Cyrus bid Australian actor Liam Hemsworth goodbye at the Nashville airport, the two kissed – and were "full-on making out," says Alex Emanuel, a New York actor who was a few feet away from the couple and saw Cyrus, 16, act "as giddy as a schoolgirl."

Hemsworth jumped out of Cyrus's truck with his luggage and headed for the terminal doors when "she jumped into his arms and threw her arms around his neck and kissed him and leaned back and he was dipping her," says Emanuel. "It was like a scene out of an old movie where the guy's getting on a train and they're saying their goodbyes."

The two actors recently wrapped the film The Last Song (also starring Kelly Preston and Greg Kinnear) in Tybee, Georgia, and attended the film's wrap party together on Aug. 16.

The new Miley Cyrus album, The Time of Our Lives on Hollywood Records, will be released Aug. 31, 2009, exclusively at Walmart stores and Walmart.com. With an $8 retail price, the offering will have seven tracks – including the single “Party In The USA,” which debuted this week at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 following three consecutive weeks as the No. 1 most added song at Top 40 Radio. The song is currently the most downloaded MP3 on Walmart.com.

In addition, Cyrus and fashion designer Max Azria of BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, Inc. have teamed up to create a new apparel line which launched this month exclusively in Walmart stores and online at Walmart.com. Walmart is also the sponsor of the Miley Cyrus North American Tour.

Billy Ray Cyrus Defends Miley's Teen Choice Pole Dance

'I just think that Miley loves entertaining people,' singer's dad says.

After Miley Cyrus performed her new single "Party in the U.S.A." at the Teen Choice Awards on August 10 — while dancing around what appeared to be a stripper pole — the singer garnered criticism about the performance, not least from Disney, the company that airs "Hannah Montana" and releases her recordings.

But her dad, Billy Ray, is coming to the defense of his 16-year-old daughter and the performance that had everyone talking. "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people," Billy Ray told Access Hollywood. "She loves singing [and] songwriting."

He added that he tells his kids to do what they think is right, no matter what other people might have to say about their decisions. "I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion," he said.

Billy Ray also spoke to UsMagazine.com about the performance, noting that he isn't there to inhibit his kids' creative and artistic expressions. "I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice," he said. "I think it's important."

Miley Cyrus fans are getting a first look at her upcoming Time of Our Lives EP. The cover art for the disc (due August 31) has been released, and it shows a T-shirt-and-jeans-clad Cyrus holding a guitar, a similar look to the one she had in her video for "The Climb." The EP will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart as a tie-in to her new clothing line with Max Azria.

Justjared.com has a preview of the seven-song EP, which features her current single, "Party in the USA," as well as "Kicking and Screaming," "Time of Our Lives," "Talk Is Cheap" and "Obsessed." Other songs include "When I Look at You," which will also be on the soundtrack for her upcoming Nicholas Sparks-written movie "The Last Song," as well as "Before the Storm," a Teen Choice Award-winning duet with her on-again, off-again superstar boyfriend, Nick Jonas.

Miley Cyrus has a lot to celebrate this week: Her new single "Party in the U.S.A." made a stellar debut at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the controversy over her pole dance at last week's Teen Choice Awards appears to have blown over. But perhaps her greatest joy this week comes from her enthusiasm for the animal kingdom, as her cat gave birth to kittens. Cyrus celebrated via Twitter late last night. "Look what GOD brought me," she tweeted. "My cat Nala had kitties!!!" She even posted an adorable photo of her with one of her newborn pals.

Cyrus even looked to her Internet followers for suggestions. "What should I name em?" she asked the Twitter nation. So far, she hasn't provided any insight into names she may have settled on, though mother cat Nala is likely named after Simba's love interest in "The Lion King."

The 16-year-old star has been tweeting from the studio and preparing for a North American tour that launches on September 14 (conveniently, the day after the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, where her video for "7 Things" is nominated for Best Editing) in Portland, Oregon. Her new EP The Time of Our Lives is set to be released on August 31. The EP will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart as a tie-in to her new clothing line.

Cyrus' Alleged Stalker Appears In Court

A judge has postponed a court hearing for Miley Cyrus' alleged stalker to give investigators more time to conclude their search of his home.

Mark McLeod, 53, appeared in court on Tybee Island, Ga., on Tuesday after he was arrested twice for hounding the Disney star.

But Judge Steven Scheer pushed back the preliminary hearing until August 25 because the results from a raid of McLeod's Georgia home weren't prepared. The lead investigator was also unavailable for Tuesday's court appearance.

A lawyer for McLeod told reporters outside the courthouse his client is "a human being" who had recently lost his job and is still grieving following the death of his mother and brother in the last 18 months.

Attorney James Byrne said, "People need to understand that, really, he's a human being. If there's something wrong, we need to address it. He's one of our fellow citizens who might need some help."

McLeod was taken into custody earlier this month after Georgia police spotted him loitering around the set of the actress' upcoming movie "The Last Song."

That arrest came just weeks after police cautioned him in June for making "inappropriate comments" to young Cyrus fans.

On that occasion, McLeod was set free because authorities claimed there was no room for him in jail and they didn't consider him a threat to himself or others.

The 16-year-old "Hannah Montana" star was granted a temporary restraining order against McLeod earlier this month.

The Time of Our Lives is the first extended play by American pop recording artist, Miley Cyrus. It is set to be released on August 31, 2009 under Hollywood Records, and will be sold exclusively at American Wal-Mart stores, in conjunction to Cyrus's new clothing line with Max Azria.

"Party in the U.S.A."

"Party in the U.S.A.", the lead single from The Time of Our Lives, went for adds for mainstream radio on August 4, 2009.However, due to an illegal leak of a demo version, it was released early on July 29 for airplay. Cyrus was irritated by the leak and tweeted, "How did my friggen [sic]song get leaked???" After its official release, fifty stations on mainstream radio added the single, making it the most added single to mainstream radio for the week. According to The New York Post, "Party in the U.S.A." is an up-tempo track with "semi-autobiographical" lyrics that center around Cyrus's move from Nashville, Tennessee to Los Angeles, California. The song also references Jay-Z and Britney Spears as artists who the song's protagonist is listening to.

Miley is also auctioning off some of her favorite outfits, and the proceeds will go to the Pappy Cyrus Family Foundation, the Cyrus family’s personal charity that was founded last year in honor of her grandfather to help children in need. Bidding starts August 6th and ends August 13th.

Miley Cyrus stalker arrested in Georgia

Mark McLeod has been arrested for a second time for stalking 'tween sensation Miley Cyrus. The 53-year-old crazed fan who has made past claims that he is engaged to Cyrus, was arrested the first time on June 22nd on charges of disorderly conduct, but released due to prison overcrowding.

He was once again arrested Tuesday night at his home in Appling, Georgia, which is southwest of Augusta.McLeod was repeatedly told by police to stay away from Cyrus and the movie set on Tybee Island, where the star is filming Disney’s “The Last Song.”

Last weekend, the delusional McLeod was seen on the island, 180 miles from his home, knocking on doors and asking about Cyrus.In the last four months, McLeod has sent the singer hundreds of letters, traveled to Manhattan to attend her book signing, and watched her concert in Orlando. He told police in June that they were secretly engaged after “our eyes met at her concert and we both knew.

Nobody will ever be able to keep us apart.” McLeod claimed that Miley communicated to him through pictures and TV messages. A psychologist recently said that McLeod exhibited signs of schizophrenia and delusion disorder. Then she’ll be back for a 4th season of “Hannah Montana,” but that’s not all.According to Variety, Miley is set to star in a movie adaptation of the young adult novel, Wings. Disney has acquired screen rights to the young adult novel “Wings” and will develop the bestselling Aprilynne Pike title as a star vehicle for Miley Cyrus.Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wick Godfrey will produce. Tish Cyrus will be executive producer. It’s Temple Hill’s first foray into supernatural fare since “Twilight.”Pic will be developed for Cyrus to play Laurel, a 15-year-old who grows up sheltered and home-schooled in a small town. Adjusting to a big high school is difficult, and her suspicion that she’s not like the other kids becomes a reality when she sprouts a pair of wings and learns that she’s a fairy. Published in May, the novel is the first of a planned four-book series.The deal continues Disney’s relationship with Cyrus beyond “Hannah Montana.” She is currently shooting “The Last Song,” a Julie Anne Robinson-directed adaptation of the novel that Nicholas Sparks wrote as a vehicle for Cyrus. Sparks wrote the script with Jeff Van Wie.
